Where US adults spend time on social, Canva Craft, and Claude Duet

The short version

YouTube (84%) and Facebook (70%) still reach the most US adults, ahead of Instagram (51%) and TikTok (37%), according to Pew. If you make vertical video for Instagram, post it to Facebook and YouTube Shorts too.

This post is from my weekly newsletter, for people who want to grow their business using social media, whether it’s your company, you own social alongside five other jobs, or you’re a social pro who wants to become an expert in AI. The other topic that week was the 30-day repost rule.

Which social platforms do US adults use most?

YouTube and Facebook still reach the most US adults. Pew’s latest numbers: 84% of U.S. adults say they use YouTube, 70% use Facebook, 51% use Instagram, and 37% use TikTok. Pew also found that 34% of US adults often or sometimes get news from email newsletters, up from 30% last year.

What this means for you: If you’re making vertical video for Instagram, post it to Facebook and YouTube Shorts too. Turn on Instagram-to-Facebook sharing, then take the extra minute to upload the same video to YouTube Shorts. You’ll reach more people with content you already made, and YouTube is becoming an increasingly important place for LLMs to find and surface content. And that newsletter stat is exactly why I want you turning social attention into an email list you own.

What is Canva Craft?

Canva released Craft, its own image model. Craft makes images with more accurate layouts and readable text, and it gives you more editable outputs inside Canva. It’s available now for all users.

What this means for you: If you’ve ever made an image with AI, liked 90% of it, asked it to change one thing, and gotten a completely different image back, this is worth trying. You should be able to keep the part that is working and edit the rest instead of starting from scratch.

What is Claude Duet?

Claude Duet is the AI tool I was most excited to try that week. Anthropic announced Duet as a proactive AI assistant. It can send a morning brief, flag what needs your attention, work through tasks in the background, and stop to ask before doing something sensitive like sending a message or making a payment. It also brings over the memory, skills, and connected apps you already use in Claude. Think of it as a competitive product to Muse, Instinct, Dots, and Grok Bot, but with Claude context.

What this means for you: I use Claude and Instinct constantly. Instinct has made a massive difference in how organized I feel because I can text it and get information quickly. But that week, I texted my Instinct assistant to send a Zoom link for a call, and it couldn’t because it does not connect to Zoom. Claude did it quickly and easily, but I had to open the app, start a new chat, and ask. That sounds small, but when I’m out, the ease of access and method of communication make a real difference. That’s why I’m excited about Duet: it’s Claude, with everything I’ve already connected, but operating more like an assistant. If you’re on Claude Pro or Max in the US, you can get on the waitlist.
