How to turn one customer problem into 3 social media posts

The short version

Answer three questions about the biggest problem your customers have, turn the answers into a video, then use the same content for a carousel and a text-over-b-roll post. One problem, three posts.

If you’re stuck on what to post today, start with your customers. These three questions turn what you already know into content.

1. What is the #1 problem you hear from your customers?

  • “I’m 45 years old and exhausted all the time”
  • “My postpartum skin is dry and irritated”
  • “I was in a car accident and I’m hurt and don’t know what to do”
  • “My brand looks and sounds like everyone else’s”

2. What is the #1 mistake they make when they try to solve it themselves?

  • “I’ve been cutting calories and skipping meals”
  • “I keep adding new products and exfoliating harder”
  • “I already talked to the other driver’s insurance company”
  • “I’m redesigning my logo”

3. What do you recommend they do instead?

  • Eat more protein, starting at breakfast
  • Strip the routine back and repair the skin barrier
  • Talk to a lawyer before you talk to any insurance company
  • Get clear on who you’re for and what you want to be known for before you touch the visuals

Turn the answers into a video

Put the problem, the mistake, and your recommendation together, and you have a hook and a video:

  • “Cutting calories to fix your perimenopause fatigue? It could be making it worse. Try this instead:”
  • “If your postpartum skin is dry and irritated, stop adding products. Do this instead:”
  • “Hurt in a car accident? Don’t talk to the other driver’s insurance until you do this.”
  • “Your brand doesn’t need a new logo. It needs this:”

These examples show the format. They are not medical, legal, or design advice.

Turn that one video into three posts

After you publish your video, use that same content to create a carousel and then a text-over-b-roll post. One problem, three posts.

If you want to go further, here is how one day of shooting becomes 48 posts.

Questions I get about this
What should I post when I don’t know what to make?
Start with your customers. Ask what the number one problem is that you hear from them, what mistake they make trying to solve it themselves, and what you recommend instead.
What are the three questions?
What is the #1 problem you hear from your customers? What is the #1 mistake they make when they try to solve it themselves? What do you recommend they do instead?
How do I get three posts from one idea?
Turn the answers into a video first. Then use that same content to create a carousel and a text-over-b-roll post.
